Docent Naturalist Apprenticeship Program

Do you have a passion for nature and contagious enthusiasm for the outdoors? Register for our Docent Naturalist Program and become part of a stellar group who volunteer their time and skills by leading guided nature walks at the Arboretum. As an apprentice, you'll learn through a combination of observation, mentorship, and practice. By the end of the program, you'll have confidence in your ability to identify native plants, engage an audience in the Arboretum's mission, and share your love of nature from season to season.

Participation in the Docent Naturalist Apprenticeship Program contributes to Maryland Master Naturalist volunteer service and advanced training requirements and is a logical follow-up to the MDMN program.

The 2023 program will meet on second Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon Training is free; volunteer service is required outside of class time.

To apply for a spot, send email to Jenny Houghton or call Jenny at 410-634-2847, ext. 230.
