Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre native plant preserve with a variety of habitats, including meadow, forest edge, floodplain forest, oak forest, young pine forest, and wetland. Along with Tuckahoe State Park, the Arboretum is recognized as an Important Bird Area, with 186 avian species identified and recorded. Our grounds are open sunrise to sunset, and we welcome birders to come explore the paths.

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s eBird is an incredible resource, and Adkins Arboretum is listed as an eBird hotspot! Many birders will post their sightings to eBird. You can follow along and either post your own sightings or see what others have seen. Our staff also look to eBird to get a pulse of what birds are coming through the area at a given time.
