Docent Naturalist Training Program

Is your enthusiasm for the outdoors contagious? Are you passionate about nature? If so, join our Docent Naturalist Training Program and become part of a stellar group of individuals who volunteer their time and skills by leading guided nature walks at Adkins Arboretum. By the end of the program, you’ll have confidence in your ability to engage an audience in the Arboretum’s mission as you share your love of nature.

Classes meet from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month, beginning in March and ending in November (and skipping July/August for summer break). Indoor and outdoor activities are planned for each class, with an emphasis on learning by doing…outside. In addition to classes, participants are required to attend a monthly guided walk at the Arboretum, with the eventual goal of leading walks on their own.
