CBT Chesapeake Conservation & Climate Corps Member
Offered through the Chesapeake Bay Trust, this full-time, one-year term of paid service offers young professionals an opportunity to gain valuable experience, training, mentorship, and support to help launch their career in the environmental field.
The CCCC member placed at Adkins Arboretum will be involved with projects and activities that preserve, protect, and conserve Eastern Shore ecosystems throughout our 400 acres. They will be an essential member of the Arboretum team, working to advance the Arboretum’s mission by assisting with land management, restoration, and conservation while engaging with a broad audience, including students, local gardeners and homeowners, educators, landscape professionals, scientists, artists, performers, and Arboretum volunteers and staff, while learning and honing personal relationships and organizational skills. Technical skills training options include plant identification, nursery operations, plant propagation, native plant gardening, land management, invasive plant control techniques and applications, grant writing, GPS, and collections software. After a year of working at Adkins Arboretum, the CCCC Member will be well prepared to start a career in land stewardship, natural resource management, horticulture, public gardens, or parks.
