Tribute Program

The Adkins Arboretum Tribute Program provides an opportunity to make a meaningful gift that will be an enduring tribute in honor or memory of family or friends. All tribute gifts are used to support the Arboretum’s mission to promote the appreciation and conservation of the native plants of the Delmarva Peninsula through its “educational, research, cultural and recreational programs.” All gifts are tax-deductible.

Contribution levels:

  • Tribute Benches ($3,000)
A bench has been designated for individuals to donate to the Arboretum as a tribute to a loved one. It will complement the trails and walkways and other key locations in the Arboretum. The name of the honored individual will be engraved on a plaque at the base of the bench. The Arboretum will provide the donor with a choice of locations for placement of the bench.
  • Tribute Books ($250)
Donations towards a book or books for the Arboretum’s library are placed in the library book fund to be used by the librarian to select a book or books for the Arboretum’s collection. A commemorative bookplate naming the person being honored or memorialized will be placed inside the book’s front cover.
  • Memorial Contributions
Friends and family can make a donation to Adkins Arboretum to honor or memorialize someone special. The donation will be placed in an unrestricted fund for use as deemed necessary by the Arboretum. Memorial contributions may be made online, by phone or by mailing a check to the Arboretum.

Benefits and Recognition:

  • Donors through the Tribute Program will be acknowledged in the Arboretum’s annual report and recorded in a Tribute Book, available for viewing to visitors upon request.
  • First-time tribute donors at $1,000 level and above will receive a one-year family membership to the Arboretum.
  • If contact information is provided, a card acknowledging the donation will be sent to the family of the memorialized or honored individual, without reference to the size of the gift.
