Tribute Program

Tribute Program

The Arboretum Tribute Program provides an opportunity to make a meaningful gift that will serve as an enduring tribute in honor or memory of family or friends. All tribute gifts support the Arboretum's mission to promote the conservation and restoration of the Chesapeake Bay region's native landscapes through its education, research, cultural, and recreational programs. All gifts are tax-deductible.

If making a tribute donation, please notify Kate Rattie at 410-634-2847, ext. 33 or krattie@adkinsarboretum.org so that a card can be sent to the family of the person honored through your gift.

Contribution levels:

Tribute Benches ($3,000)
The Arboretum has commissioned Bob Ortiz of Robert Ortiz Studios in Chestertown, MD, to design a bench for individuals to donate to the Arboretum in tribute to a loved one. Ortiz, a self-taught woodworker of more than 20 years, was recognized as the 2002 Best New Designer in Fine Woodworking at the Philadelphia Furniture Show.

The name of the honored individual will be engraved on a plaque at the base of the bench. The Arboretum will provide the donor with a choice of locations for placement of the bench.

Tribute Books ($250)
Tribute book donations are placed in the library book fund to be used by the librarian to select a book or books for the Arboretum's collection. A commemorative bookplate naming the person being honored or memorialized will be placed inside the book's front cover.

Memorial Contributions
Friends and family can make a donation to Adkins Arboretum to honor or memorialize someone special. The donation will be placed in an unrestricted fund for use as deemed necessary by the Arboretum. Memorial contributions may be made online, by phone, or by mailing a check to the Arboretum.

Benefits and Recognition:
Donors to the Tribute Program will be acknowledged in the Arboretum's annual report and recorded in a Tribute Book, available for viewing to visitors upon request.

First-time tribute donors at the $1,000 level and above will receive a one-year family membership to the Arboretum.

If contact information is provided, a card acknowledging the donation will be sent to the family of the memorialized or honored individual, without reference to the size of the gift.
