Adkins Arboretum offers Fall Soup 'n Walk Programs:
Nature, Nurture and Nutrition
To feed the mind and nurture the body, Adkins Arboretum will offer
a Soup ’n Walk program on Saturday, November 17. The program
includes a guided walk, a delicious lunch and a chat about the
nutrition behind the meal from nutritionist and Arboretum docent
Julianna Pax.
The theme for the guided walk is Nuts and Berries are Food
for Winter. The lunch menu includes black bean soup with
onion and cilantro; quinoa with craisins, apricots and pecans;
whole wheat flaxseed bread and cranberry apple crisp. The menu
and nutrition talk will focus on the vegetables, fruits, beans,
whole grains and fats recommended for a healthy diet. Copies
of recipes are provided.
The Soup ’n Walk program begins at 11 a.m. The cost is $15
for Arboretum members and $20 for the general public. Pre-registration

Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre native garden
and preserve at the headwaters of the Tuckahoe Creek in Caroline
County. Open year round, the Arboretum offers educational programs
for all ages about nature and gardening. Guided walks are offered
Saturdays at 11 a.m. and the first Wednesday of the month at 1
p.m., April through November. For additional information about
