FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (RIDGELY, MD—OCTOBER
13,
2007)
Adkins Arboretum offers Fall Soup 'n Walk Programs:
Nature, Nurture and Nutrition
To feed the mind and nurture the body, Adkins Arboretum will offer
a Soup ’n Walk program on Saturday, October 27. The program
includes a guided walk, a delicious lunch and a chat about the
nutrition behind the meal from nutritionist and Arboretum docent
Julianna Pax.
The themed guided walk will focus on the four key colors of autumn—red,
yellow, green and brown—and the plants that exhibit these
hues in the fall woodland. The lunch menu includes roasted red
pepper and corn soup, cabbage and carrot slaw with nuts, pumpkin
bread and sweet potato pecan pie. The menu and nutrition talk will
focus on the vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains and fats recommended
for a healthy diet. Copies of recipes are provided.
The Soup ’n Walk program begins at 11 a.m. The cost is $15
for Arboretum members and $20 for the general public. Pre-registration
is required. For more information or to register, call 410-634-2847,
extension 0.
