Adkins Arboretum is operated by the not-for-profit
Adkins Arboretum, Ltd. under a 50-year lease with the Maryland
Department of Natural Resources. It is the generosity of private
individuals that provides financial support for the staffing, maintenance,
programming and development of the Arboretum.
By becoming a member of the Arboretum, you are making
a significant contribution to the conservation of the Delmarva
Peninsula’s natural heritage. Membership fees support
the Arboretum’s educational programs. Join

Adkins Arboretum was founded 25 years
ago with the help of a donation from Leon Andrus, a resident
of Queen Anne’s
County. To honor Andrus’s vision of promoting the appreciation
and conservation of native plants on the Delmarva Peninsula,
the Leon Andrus Society was established in 2004. The Society
welcomes
members who join the Arboretum or renew their annual memberships
at the $1,000 level or above. Benefits include:
- All Sustainer membership benefits,
- Invitations to special Arboretum programs,
behind-the-scenes tours, and exhibit previews,
- An invitation to the annual Leon Andrus Society
Dinner at the home of an Arboretum Trustee, and
- Special recognition in the Annual Report.
