Adkins Arboretum to Host Bird Walk September 27

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (RIDGELY, MD - SEPTEMBER 23, 2008)

Join a morning walk Saturday, September 27 through Adkins Arboretum's diverse habitat of woodlands, meadows, and wetlands for Bluebirds to Warblers - Resident and Migrating Birds. Birder Karen Harris will lead the walk beginning at 8 a.m. at the Arboretum Visitor's Center. The walk is $5 for Arboretum members, $8 for the general public.

The Arboretum was recently designated an Important Bird Area by Audubon MD-DC. Its woodland and meadow paths are ideal sites for discovering a variety of birds throughout the year.

Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre native garden and preserve at the headwaters of the Tuckahoe Creek in Caroline County. Open year round, the Arboretum offers educational programs for all ages about nature and gardening. Through its Campaign to Build a Green Legacy, the Arboretum will build a new LEED-certified Arboretum Center and entranceway to broaden educational offerings and research initiatives promoting best practices in conservation and land stewardship.
