Learn to Design with Fall Color at Adkins Arboretum

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (RIDGELY, MD - OCTOBER 14, 2008)

Autumn color, so beautiful in the woods, can also be brought to the home landscape with thoughtful design. Capture what makes fall color happen and come away with ideas for incorporating the colors and textures of autumn into your own landscape when Adkins Arboretum offers Garden Design and Autumn Color on Thursday, October 23 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Mother-and-daughter team Julianna Pax and Chris Pax will teach the science behind fall color and the ways these colors can enhance and accent the fall garden. Chris Pax is a landscape designer specializing in native plants, and Julianna Pax is a chemist. Both are trained as Arboretum docents. The program is $15 for Arboretum members and $18 for the general public. For more information or to register, call 410-634-2847, ext. 0.

Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre native garden and preserve at the headwaters of the Tuckahoe Creek in Caroline County. Open year round, the Arboretum offers educational programs for all ages about nature and gardening. Through its Campaign to Build a Green Legacy, the Arboretum will build a new LEED-certified Arboretum Center and entranceway to broaden educational offerings and research initiatives promoting best practices in conservation and land stewardship.
