Share the holiday spirit at Adkins Arboretum! Ring in the season at the Arboretum’s Holiday Greens Sale, a special event for all ages on Sat., Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Unique decorated wreaths, swags, boxwood trees, topiaries and roping made from local greens will be for sale to deck the halls for a beautiful Eastern Shore holiday.
The day also will include refreshments, activities for families, and a free drop-in wildlife ornament workshop for kids from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A holiday ornament workshop for adults, led by garden designer and Arboretum docent Nancy Beatty, will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon. The Arboretum gift shop, offering one-of-a-kind nature-inspired and specialty gifts and books for adults and children, will be open during the Holiday Greens Sale and daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the holiday season. An Arboretum gift membership affords the recipient a full year’s worth of special benefits while supporting the Arboretum’s operations and education programs focused on the conservation of the Chesapeake Bay region’s natural heritage. This holiday season, recipients of gift memberships will also receive a tulip poplar leaf pin specially designed for the Arboretum.
Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre native garden and preserve at the headwaters of the Tuckahoe Creek in Caroline County. Open year round, the Arboretum offers educational programs for all ages about nature and gardening. Through its Campaign to Build a Green Legacy, the Arboretum will build a new LEED-certified Arboretum Center and entranceway to broaden educational offerings and research initiatives promoting best practices in conservation and land stewardship.
