ADKINS ARBORETUM OFFERS SOUP ’N WALK PROGRAM: NATURE, NURTURE AND NUTRITION
To feed the mind and nurture the body, Adkins Arboretum will offer a Soup ’n Walk program on Saturday, March 15. The program includes a guided walk, a delicious lunch and a chat about the nutrition behind the meal with nutritionist and Arboretum docent Julianna Pax.
The theme for the guided walk is Watch for Buds and Early Spring Blooms. The lunch menu includes mushroom barley soup, broccoli bud salad, dill rye bread with lingonberry jam and apple cranberry bars. The menu and nutrition talk will focus on the vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains and fats recommended for a healthy diet. Copies of recipes are provided.
The Soup ’n Walk program begins at 11 a.m. The cost is $18 for Arboretum members and $20 for the general public. Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, call 410-634-2847, extension 0.
Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre native garden and preserve at the headwaters of the Tuckahoe Creek in Caroline County. Open year round, the Arboretum offers educational programs for all ages about nature and gardening. Through its Campaign to Build a Green Legacy, the Arboretum will build a new LEED-certified Arboretum Center and entranceway to broaden educational offerings and research initiatives promoting best practices in conservation and land stewardship.
